Tummy-Tuck & Mini-Tuck

Body contour surgery has been done for several decades. Before Liposuction entered the scene about 25 years ago, contour changes of the body were limited to surgical excision of bulging areas such as hips, thighs, arms, tummy etc. This allowed people to look good in clothes but left unsightly scars.
Now with liposuction body contouring can be done safely and without unattractive scars. However liposuction can only remove fat under the skin and not change the fat under the muscle or tighten loose muscles or skin. This is needed for instance around the abdomen where the signs of age, weight gain and results of pregnancy are common.
The modern treatment now combines surgical excision of loose skin say after extreme weight loss and liposuction with muscle tightening as in the abdomen after pregnancy. In the abdomen this is called abdominoplasty or tummy-tuck (T.T). The degree to how much “work” is needed determines whether a Full or (major T.T.) or Mini (minor T.T.) is done.
